The wheel is the oldest symbol of rotation, movement, time and eternity. In antiquity, the wheel of fortune was associated with the sun. The properties of the wheel were also connected with those of lightning, which is why it was a symbol of both Zeus, the god of thunder and, Apollo, the god of light. Most of all, the Ancient Greeks linked it with the goddess of fortune, Tyche, as they believed that the wheel’s rotational movement brought in good luck and fortune.
